Carry Your Cross!

Born again Christians are called to walk all the days of their ordained life in worship and honor of God. This walk is through many valleys and over numerous mountains in the journey of life. The walk of life as Christians is not without its own struggles including personal wars and Kingdom battles.

But as the kings and priests of the Kingdom of God, we must remember that our conflicts are not ours to fight, but God himself promises to fight and contend for us (Revelations 1:6, Deuteronomy 20:4). Victory is our portion and our only stance as kingdom believers is faith. It is through faith, that we believe Victory is given to us in Jesus Christ, from the Father himself.

As we walk by faith, lead and guided by the promises and authority of God we are aware that our canopy of victory is in the Life of Jesus. His holy words are life in our soul and power in our spirit. His holy words direct us in every situation as the Holy Spirit reminds us of what He said or saying.  Through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ, our current situations are transformed to our victory to the Glory of the Father.

As we follow Jesus Christ as our Lord, we find ourselves walking a mirrored journey of our Lord, as He walked dependent upon God the Father. Jesus demonstrated the sacrificial offering of himself to lay on the cross and die before accusers and betrayers at the will of God the Father.  It pleased the Father that His son was grieved, beaten and His soul was offered to death for the first fruit of many to come! (Isaiah 53:10-11, 1 Corinthians 15:23) Jesus loved as His Father loved and the life of many prevailed over the pain and suffering of one! Jesus willingly carried the cross unto death that many to come would carry their daily cross and follow into a reconciled life with God the Father. Jesus died so you could die! It is this death that we received by faith and in the same faith, we are risen with Him by the immeasurable power of God. (Romans 6, Romans 10:9)

It is in the death of Jesus that we have died to the power of sin and God's justice has triumphed over the accuser of His children.  We are free indeed from the eternal consequences of sin and we have received His life to live abundantly in a new relationship with the Father. Jesus did not leave us on the cross! He brought us through the cross into a life with God. Death did not win on the cross, it was the new beginning of new beginnings for the “whosoevers” that believe. Jesus said, “Deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow me.” Your cross is to remind you that Jesus died for you and you died with Him. Your cross is to remind you that old things have passed away and new things have come(Isaiah 43:19), Your cross is to remind you of the greater power of God that prevailed over death and now you live in Jesus(Hebrews 2:14, 2 Timothy 1:10). Your cross is always behind you but your life in Jesus is in and before you. Walk in the journey of a blessed life in Jesus knowing all things are new.

Carrying your cross is a daily reminder of the dead things in your life no longer prevail in any capacity! The Bible reminds us of our dead things so that we can embrace the Holy Spirit’s work within us and live according to the Fruit of the Spirit to the pleasure of Him. (Galatians 5:19-25)

Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?

- Matthew 16:24-26(MSG)
